Lara Croft has been rebooted more than once, so Tomb Raider does not have one continuous game timeline. The easiest way to avoid confusion is to follow one of its three main continuities: Classic, Legend or Survivor. Remasters preserve older adventures; remakes retell them.

What about Legacy of Atlantis?
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is an announced reimagining of the 1996 debut, currently scheduled for 2027. It is not included in the released-game lists. When it launches, the guide should identify which continuity it follows before assigning it a story-order position.
Peppermoon’s recommendation
Start with the Survivor trilogy if you want a modern origin story and a clear three-game arc. Start with Legend, Anniversary and Underworld for the other connected trilogy. The classic games are best approached as their own older continuity.
